Les Mones de Pasqua : traditional Easter Chocolate Cakes

In Catalonia and other nearby regions we traditionally celebrate Easter with “la mona“. Offered by the Godfather for Easter Sunday, it initially consisted of a cake with decorated boiled eggs on the top. Through the years, the eggs were replaced by chocolate and other garments like little toys, and today most “mones” are real chocolate sculptures!

It’s been a while since I received my last mona from my godfather, I’m supposed to be a grown up by now, but I always like to take a look at the cake shop’s displays and see what are the last trends in mones de pasqua. As you will see, FC Barcelona remains a very popular theme as animated cartoons characters. Choose your favorite!
